Baari (The Opening)

Baari by Bilal Saeed ft. Momina Mustehsan released on OneTwoRecords.
Written, Composed & Directed by Bilal Saeed

Lyrics and Translation:

[Verse 1: Bilal Saeed]
Tainu takkeya – hosh hi bhul gayi
Garam-garam chah – hath te dul gayi
Hath te dul gayi chah sajna, aisi teri nigah sajjna
Jandi-jandi dasdi ja tu, dil de vich ki tere?
Dil de vich ki tere?

[Verse 1: Bilal Saeed]
Moment my eyes held you, all senses left too…
As my teacup wobbled, I burned my hands too…
Senses leave out of the blue, such my love is your gaze and hue…
Before you leave too, hint me this, what your heart said to you?
What your heart said to you?

[Chorus: Bilal Saeed]
Main suneya uchiyan deewaran rakhiyan, ni tu dil te char chafere
Naale sambh ke rakhdi aein, koi dil ch na laye dere
Main suneya pehlan vi dil tutteya, dil tutteya tera ek waari
Tayin dil di diwaran te, tu ek naa banayi baari
[Instrumental Break]

[Chorus: Bilal Saeed]
I heard of the high walls you’ve built,
around your heart’s palace.
You seem to guard it as-in,
you don’t want any interference.
I heard your heart has been with it.
A heart-break once before…
The reason that you haven’t
yet created any doors.

[Verse 2: Momina Mustehsan]
Mera vi dil udna chahe, par main darni aan
Main udaan te, main hawavan naal ladni aan
Mera vi dil udna chahe, par main darni aan
Main udaan te, main hawavan naal ladni aan
Khwaab apne, apni akhiyaan vich sambhale main
Aise layi te, dil te apne laale taale main

[Verse 2: Momina Mustehsan]
My heart too craves to fly,
but I am damn scared.
When I fly even a little,
I quarrel with the winds. [2x]
Hence, all dreams I have dreamt,
I keep them to myself.
That’s why the insides of my heart
are locked and sealed.

[Chorus: Momina Mustehsan]

[Chorus: Momina Mustehsan]
Hence, all the high walls I’ve built,
around my heart’s palace.
As I sure need to protect it,
from all the love’s influence.
Since my heart has been through,
a heart-break once before…
That’s the reason why I have,
yet not built any doors.

[Bridge: Momina Mustehsan, Bilal Saeed & Both]
Tere layi te saari duniya naal lad laange
Tu jiye te, teri aayi aap mar laange
Ho, tu jiyein te, teri ayi aap mar laange
Tu jiyein te, teri ayi aap mar lange

[Bridge: Momina Mustehsan, Bilal Saeed & Both]
If you are alongside me,
the rest of the world I can sure fight with…
Should you get to live,
I would give my life
happily in a heartbeat… [2x]

[Verse 4: Bilal Saeed & Momina Mustehsan]
Tu karke uchiyan diwaraan rakh lai, iss dil de chaar chafere
Bhawein sambh ke rakh lai dil, tere dil ch main laane dere
Te mera pehla ve dil tutteya, haaye tutteya mera ek waari
Taiyon dil di deewaran te, main ek na banayi baari

So, you may keep all the high walls,
around your heart’s palace…
And guard it as much as you please…
I for sure promise you one thing,
I will conquer and make you
surrender your heart’s castle…
Since my heart has been through,
a heart-break once before…
That’s the reason why I have,
yet not built any doors…

— Original poem penned by Bilal Saeed.
— Adaptation dedicated to those who have yet to open the windows to welcome the breeze of love and to those who are hell-bent to break the windows with their storms…

Confession: Original poem’s title i.e. the word “Baari” from Punjabi means Window. For its rhymic adaptation in English, I have taken the liberty and translated its sense into “the opening” (and hence used the term doors).

Credits: I was introduced to this lovely song by Miss Sidrah Kamal.
