Sufi Rang… (Sufi Colors)

Context: Written as in a love letter from Rumi (mentee, lover, mureed) to Shams (the mentor, the beloved, murshid)…

Poem:

Mujhe sufi rang main kuch rangne de.
Dil ki deewaron ko aag se lipatne de..
Mei phir aaya hun yeh jagg sara…
Ab mujay khud mei tu bhatakne de…

Mei khud aaun, ya tu jala jaye…
Bas yaad main aur sulagne de…
Baazi-e-Ishq mein, ho jaun par,
Dil mei bas ik shola panapne de.

Mujay maan lia sab ne buhat kaabil,
Tu apne husn se maat ko chakhne de…
Aasmono ko chhor, aankhon ki bata.
Tu jheel ki gehrayon mein ghirne de.

Ghira hai sb duaon se meri jholi mein,
Mujay aawargi ki nazr mei charhne de.
Phool sahi, mil to phir bhi jaana hai.
Tere be-misaal rangon mei nikherne de.

Woh jo rakh aaya hai girvi apni rooh,
Usay geeli mitti mei na aur dhasne de!
Sookhi hai deed ye duniya dekh ke,
Isay Jannat-ul-firdous k sapnay de…

Sab masroof hein ban kr dikhane mein,
Mei jo hun mujay us se miljaane de…
Mujay mat bana tu mehlon ki zeenat,
Chand beej liye mitti mein miljaane de.

Mei nahi samandar se waqif, to kyun…
Paani mein dabbi machli sa tadapne de?
Mujay tu apnay sheeshay mei utaar,
Aur phir namak ki tarah ghulne de.

Mujay raingne se nahi milti fursut,
Mere par dikha aur mujay udne de.
Mene hawaun se kar liya hai sauda,
Mujay mustaqil thikana badalne de.

Gar mei sahil hun to darya se milne de.
Gar mei darya, to har karwat machalne de.
Tere samnay bichh to sab hi jaatay hein,
Chuum Ishq se, dabbi rait se ubharne de.

Dhhundlia hai jahan teri talash mein,
Muj mein hai to kisi ainay se milne de.
Seekhliya Sohani hosh walon ka dhang,
Tu bas pii aur phir malang jhoomne de.
