You dig spears of your beliefs…
to pierce each heart you come across.
We are mere devotees of love,
what makes you put us on the cross?
Why not let songs simmer in the valleys?
Leave us too a little, to live in the alleys…
We are the custodians of the flowers,
Trustees to its aroma and of fragrance…
Whose blood here are you after?
We are chaperones of the fondness…
What else would you see here, then?
When words will succumb to death…
When bonds will tear through javelin,
When the city will shift into a void lifeless.
When bards will be slaughtered for melodies,
And deprived will be the city of all voices,
When whole city would turn barren, forsaken,
To whom would you hurl your stones, curses?
There’ll be a moment such too
when you would stare yourself in the mirrors…
Only to come out in a dread,
and to end up in shivers…

تم اپنے عقیدوں کے نیزے
ہر دل میں اتارے جاتے ہو
ہم لوگ محبت والے ہیں
تم خنجر کیوں لہراتے ہو
اس شہر میں نغمے بہنے دو
بستی میں ہمیں بھی رہنے دو
ہم پالنہار ہیں پھولوں کے
ہم خوشبو کے رکھوالے ہیں
تم کس کا لہو پینے آئے
ہم پیار سکھانے والے ہیں
اس شہر میں پھر کیا دیکھو گے
جب حرف یہاں مر جائے گا
جب تیغ پہ لے کٹ جائے گی
جب شعر سفر کر جائے گا
جب قتل ہوا سر سازوں کا
جب کال پڑا آوازوں کا
جب شہر کھنڈر بن جائے گا
پھر کس پر سنگ اٹھاؤ گے
اپنے چہرے آئینوں میں
جب دیکھو گے ڈر جاؤ گے

Tum apne aqidon ke naizay

har dil mein utaarey jatay ho
hum log mohabbat walay hain
tum khanjar kyun lehratey ho
Is shehar mein naghmay behnay do
bastii mein hamein bhi rehne do
hum palan-haar hein phoolon ke
hum khushbu ke rakh-walay hein
Tum kis ka lahoo peenay aaye
hum pyar sikahnay walay hain
is shehar mein phir kya dekho ge
Jab harf yahan mar jaye ga
jab teegh pe lay kat jaye gi
jab shehr safar kar jaye ga
Jab qatal huwa sar sazon ka
jab kaal para aawazon ka
jab shehr khandhar ban jaye ga
phir kis par sang uthao ge
Apne chehray aa_iinon mein
jab dekho ge – dar jao ge
