Oh, Beloved… (Raanjhanaa…)

– Wonderful song from the Hindi Film: Raanjhanaa (came across it thanks to Miss Sidra Kamal)

Once again we behold a recipe of magic with the music of maestro A.R. Rahman along with the lyrics of transcended poet Irshad Kamil. This song from the Hindi film: Raanjhanaa (2015) quickly gets etched in your heart once you hear it, the depth of lyrics and music composition of the song just grows on you.

Translation:

Oh beloved, come come
to my abode, I wait eagerly…
Overwhelm my senses…
to date, they slept poorly!

Across all the bounds, I hear the bell sounds,
leaving the crown, you are to arrive…
Our love mounts, as you break the grounds,
I wait eagerly to catch your sight…

Oh, beloved, it’s you who I belong to…
Who even belongs to me, without you?
My all charms owe to your presence…
I’ve nothing with me in your absence.
All corners of the world too, bow to you…
Who even belongs to me, without you?
Who even belongs to me, without you?

Across all the bounds, I hear the bell sounds,
leaving the crown, you are to arrive…
Our love mounts, as you break the grounds,
I wait eagerly to catch your sight…

With a whirling form,
and a drunken spirit,
I keep referring myself
as “just yours”,
Whole world knows
state of my heart now,
Yet it’s only I who knows
what resides in yours.

Turn up, bring along
letters dipped in emotion…
Turn up, reaffirm
you own my devotion…

My all charms owe to your presence…
I’ve nothing with me in your absence.

World’s illuminated
colors are splashed,
No matter where I run
my sight gallant.
Proud of self,
even if beyond the sense,
I adoringly surrender
myself as rampant.

Turn up, to contain
my unhinged sensibilities…
Turn up, to bring me
down with pointless ease…

Across all the bounds, I hear the bell sounds
leaving the crown, you are to arrive…
Our love mounts, as you break the grounds,
I wait eagerly to catch your sight…

Oh, beloved, it’s you who I belong to…
Who would belong to me, without you?
My all charms owe to your presence…
I’ve nothing with me in your absence.
All corners of the world too, bow to you…
Who even belongs to me, without you?
Who even belongs to me, without you?

– Dedicated to the Rhanjaas of the world… As till the world remains, so will they.
For the world will keep having them, and keep remembering each, for their yearning in love and in that purity achieving enlightenment. i.e. There’s no death but only life in unity with the beloved after being parted.

Ho.. aaja aaja
dil ke gaaon
Raahein dekhe
koi…
Jaagegi phir
kismat sohnee
Thi ab tak jo…
soyi…

Hua chaaron ore shehnaai shor
Tu meri ore chal nikla
Chadhi prem lor o dil ke chor
Kar meri bhor ab mukh dikhla

Raanjhanaa hua main tera…
Kaun tere bin mera
Raunakein tumhi se meri
Kaun tere bin mera
Tera hai chaar chuphera
Kaun tere bin mera
Ho.. kaun tere bin mera

Hua chaaron ore shehnaai shor
Tu meri ore ab chal nikla
Chadhi prem lor o dil ke chor
Kar meri bhor ab mukh dikhla

Tan thirke thirke, Man bekhe behke
Tera, keh ke – keh ke, khud ko
Mere dil ki baat, Jaane kaaynaat
Tere dil ki khabar bas mujhko

Tan thirke thirke, Man bekhe behke
Tera keh ke, keh ke khud ko
Mere dil ki baat, Jaane kaaynaat
Tere dil ki khabar bas mujhko

Aana.. baatein..
Pyaar ki laaaana…
Aana.. thoda..
Pyaar jataaaana…

Raanjhanaa hua main tera…
Kaun tere bin mera
Ho.. kaun tere bin mera

Rang bikhra bikhra, Sab nikhra nikhra
Jaayein jidhar jidhar yeh naina
Mujhe khud pe naaz, hua pagla aaj
Raha apne hi bas hoon main na

Rang bikhra bikhra, Sab nikhra nikhra
Jaayein jidhar jidhar yeh naina
Mujhe khud pe naaz, hua pagla aaj
Raha apne hi bas hoon main na

Aana mujhe — bas kar lena
Aana ja — has kar lena

Hua chaaron ore shehnaai shor
Tu meri ore chal nikla
Chadhi prem lor o dil ke chor
Kar meri bhor ab mukh dikhla

Raanjhanaa hua main tera…
Kaun tere bin mera
Raunakein tumhi se meri
Kaun tere bin mera
Tera hai chaar chuphera
Kaun tere bin mera

Hua chaar ore shehnaai shor
Tu meri ore chal nikla
Chadhi prem lor o dil ke chor
Kar meri bhor ab mukh dikhla..
